David Hoover’s Trial Record

I’m going to give you an alarming statistic about attorneys in the state of Colorado that do personal injury.

That statistic is that 90% of the practicing attorneys in the state of Colorado have never tried a personal injury case. 90%. Let me break down the other 10% for you. Out of the remaining 10%, 5% and that would take you to 95%. That other 5% are lawyers that do personal injury work that have tried, one, two, three, four cases. They might have lost half of them. And out of that 5% is an even more alarming statistics. There are attorneys that are perennial losers.

There’s an attorney is with a firm that has become a household name in the state of Colorado, that since the year 2000, he’s lost 24 out of 28 personal injury cases.

So mixed in with the lawyer that doesn’t try cases, the lawyer that’s only tried a few cases, is the lawyer that’s lost cases. With that being said, there is an additional 5% and out of that 5% there are a few lawyers in the state of Colorado that year after year, have tried personal injury cases and they’ve won. And I’m one of those lawyers.

But, what I would say, in terms of looking for a lawyer, if I can be of any help for you, in terms of “How do you hire a lawyer?”. It would be to ask for that lawyer to produce for you, his trial record in writing.

The reason for it being in writing is this; If in the moment of confusion when you’ve been hurt, a family member has been hurt, you may be angry at an insurance company because they’re not paying bills or helping you. You go to a lawyer, and your thought as a consumer, going to that lawyer, a victim, is that that lawyer will fight for you. Because that’s what you’ve seen on television. That’s what you understand a lawyer to be, is a fighter. But, then you find out that the lawyer has never been into a courtroom?

Can you imagine going to a busy courtroom on a Monday morning, everything is on the line for you. You’ve been hurt, tragically hurt, maybe had surgeries. Have a raft of medical bills and you’re worried about working for the rest of your life and you’re not informed that your lawyer has never been in a courtroom before.

Well, what’s going to happen pretty quickly, is you’ll find it out because the lawyer won’t perform like the guy on the other side of the courtroom.

Can you imagine going to court, take any courtroom, whether it’s Pueblo, whether it’s in Colorado Springs, Fort Collins and it’s a busy Monday morning and of course, you’re nervous, your wife, your husband is there. Everything is on the line and you’re nervous and the judge pulls the jury and the jury is coming into the courtroom. Can you imagine the shock that you would be in if somebody whispered quietly in your ear, “the lawyer that you have sitting next to you has lost 24 out of the last 28 cases that he’s tried.”

You’d be horrified. You’d be shocked. You’d be mad. But, the worst thing that would happen to you is that your chances of winning would be probably different than if you were with somebody that was a winning lawyer.
