Fort Collins Bodybuilder Going Strong Without Legs

After a very publicized automobile accident in Ft. Collins in January 2007, Tyler Carron lost both his legs. At the time of the accident, Carron was a senior in high-school. He was an accomplished athlete, and a three-time state wrestling qualifier. He and his friend were pulled over, removing a spare tire from the tailgate of their car, when a car hit them and pinned them up against their car, ultimately causing him to loose both legs.

This local Colorado hero has not let his loss of legs stop him from his goals and dreams, however. In 2010, Tyler was named to USA Hockey’s national sled hockey team (along with Nikko Landeros, his friend who also lost his legs in the same car accident).

In addition, after three months of incredibly intense training, Tyler took part in the Warrior Classic bodybuilding competition. Among a slew of bodybuilders with two legs, Carron stood proud and strong on his two prosthetic legs. Tyler finished fifth, which is an incredible, tremendous accomplishment, especially considering that some of the points in the competition are awarded for leg muscles.

After the competition, officials brought Carron back on stage for a special award presentation – the “Heart of a Warrior” award, given for his immense determination and inspiration.

Tyler Carron is a true inspiration, proving that you truly can overcome adversity, and achieve anything you set your mind to, even if you’ve been a car accident victim.
